At Edzell US Nave Base they are experts at ‘community relations’ and the annual picnic they lay on at the Base for their neighbours in Angus and Mearns is always a highlight of the outdoor season. In the past this bumper gathering, with its highlight on youth has been linked with Independence Day (July 4) but this year the theme was changed.
Instead of the bands and parades and uniforms of other years a more domestic note was struck. The idea was to let their Scottish guests see something of the American way of life.

Fun and games on Edzell Muir on Saturday afternoon drew a large crowd of local people and visitors. It was the climax of Edzell Gala Week.
At the Inglis Memorial Hall, Gail Ramage, Gannochy, who is a pupil at Brechin High School, was crowned Gala Queen. Her attendants were Anita Burnett and Susan Gordon. The Queen was crowned by Mr David Myles, Dalbog, who is MP for Banff.
AFTER years of pressure from local bodies as well as the MP Mr Alick Buchanan-Smith, Mr Buchanan-Smith has been informed Brechin bypass is to be included in the Government’s experiment to provide signs indicating the services available in by-passed towns.

A TOTAL of 403 people attended the blood-collection sessions held in the City Hall on August 17 and 18.
This has helped to re-stock the Blood Bank following the holiday period and each and every donor is thanked for making the effort to attend.
NORTH East Scotland MEP Henry McCubbin will be in Brechin on Saturday, the final day of his week long Euro Information tour of his constituency. His information caravan will be at The Cross between 12 noon and 2pm.
Using video, leaflets, posters and face to face discussions the MEP hopes to answer points of interest and concern raised by the public and discuss the latest developments in the EC and how this will effect his constituents.
