Christmas came early for the donkeys at the Mountains Animal Sanctuary. Valerie Smart, president of Brechin Bridge Club handed over carrots and a cheque for £150 to Dave Udale from the sanctuary. The money was raised recently from a charity raffle held at a recent bridge club meeting. The sanctuary is Scotland’s largest equine welfare and rescue charity and relies solely on voluntary donations. Pam Taylor, general manager of the sanctuary said: “We are very grateful to the Brechin Bridge Club for supporting us in this way especially at this time of year as winter fast approaches and feed and hay costs rise considerably.”

Brechin Bridge Club meet Monday evenings in the Mechanics Institute at 6.45 for a 7 p.m. start. Visitors and guests are welcome.
