Edzell Burns club held their last Burns Supper last weekend with a capacity audience.
Edzell Burns Club was founded in 1998 to re-introduce Burns Suppers to the village.
In the following years its activities extended to running a St Andrew’s Night ceilidh in November and organising a Scottish poetry competition for pupils in Edzell Primary School.
The Burns Suppers and ceilidhs have enjoyed capacity audiences each year and are well regarded as highlights in the village life.
The Burns Supper has attracted top Burns speakers in Scotland such as Dr David Purdie, Emil Pacholek and Fraser Sanderson.
Regrettably the committee members have decided to close the club for a number of reasons.
However, the final night was a great success and appreciated by a capacity audience of 120 in the Glenesk Hotel.
The committee members would like to thank the patrons for their support over the years and remember fondly the many highlights of the nights of appreciation of our national Bard.
