The Brechin branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland raised over £1000 for work amongst disabled ex-service men in the course of a week. On Saturday, March 10, the City hall was the scene of a well-supported coffee morning, a children’s disco in the afternoon and a buffet dance in the evening. Last week a quiz and raffle brought £400 and a 10-mile sponsored walk £300. The proceeds of the week’s efforts will be divided between Erskine Hospital and the Linburn Homes.

A Brechin Corporal who has twice served in the Falklands has been presented with the British Empire Medal. Lance Corporal David Stewart (30), who is serving with 187 (Tancred) Company Royal Pioneer Corps was presented with his medal by Major General Barry Lane.
