From the archives: 30 years ago

During march the Charity Shop in Edzell was operating for Intermediate Technology, a charity promoting self help in the Third World. Dr Simon Frost, Brechin, accepted a cheque for £740 on behalf of the charity. 
His father is chief executive of the movement which encourages the provision of expertise to help Third World countries become self supporting in agriculture and basic crafts.

New road signs for minor roads are on their way, Inveresk Community Council have been told. They are reflective and more easily seen than the present “finger” signs in rural areas. 
The council, however, agreed to ask for a description of the signs before they are put up in their area.
