The garden for the blind created in the grounds of Southesk Church, Brechin, is to be formally opened by Baroness Carnegy of Lour on June 9, and the ceremony is included in the Brechin Civic Week programme. Baroness Carnegy was chairman of the Manpower Service Commission in Scotland, the Government organisation responsible for the garden which has been developed as a special employment project.

During April, the Edzell Charity shop raised £950 for the Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. The cheque was received by the Hon. Mrs Sue Forbes, who is a member of the executive committees of the RSSPCC, and is also the sister-in-law of the Rev. John Forbes, minister of Edzell-Lethnot Church.
