From the archives: 30 years ago

The rain stopped just long enough on Saturday to enable the open day and fete at Brechin Infirmary to raise over £1250 towards infirmary funds and the British Heart Foundation.

Angus District Council’s leisure and recreation committee has taken the first steps towards the setting up of an Angus Tourist Board. They have the full support of the Scottish Tourist Board. 
The committee had before them a request from Angus Girl Guides that a floral carpet bedding display be displayed in Angus to mark next year’s 75th anniversary of the Girl Guide movement. The committee agreed that the leisure and recreation director, Mr Reid prepare a report on the cost of one display for Angus.
