From the archives: 30 years ago

Careston Parish hall celebrates its 50th anniversary on December 15 with a Ceilidh. The hall, which was completed in 1934, was built by Mr W. Shaw Adamson of Careston Castle, in memory of his wife, the former Miss Norah Campbell of Stracathro, and was opened by her younger sister Miss Elsie Campbell.

A new weight restriction is being placed on vehicles using the bridge over the Cruick Water at Mill of Cruick, Brechin. Following a structural assessment, Tayside Regional Council Roads Department has recommended, to prevent further wear and tear, vehicles over three tonnes gross weight should be prohibited from using the bridge. The restriction comes in to effect on Monday, December 3.
