From the archives: 30 years ago

A total of 616 donors gave blood at the two sessions held recently in Brechin by the Blood Transfusion Service. It is the second best response the service has ever recorded at Brechin and organisers particularly thanked the donors attending the first session who had a long wait before giving blood.

Angus District Council’s campaign against “dirty dogs” and owners who allow them to foul streets and pavements if officially under way. From now on, fines of up to £100 can be imposed on such folk in the council’s bid to eradicate this nuisance. 
Warning posters declaring the new drive were put up throughout Angus - in particular on the entrances to high streets and pedestrian precincts.
