The lack of toilets at the Public Park is so acute Mrs Margaret Brymer told Brechin Community Council at their monthly meeting, that there is not much use families going there unless the children are still at the nappy stage. Councillor John Thomson promised Mrs Brymer that he would raise the matter at the District Council but he had not much hope of success. Their support grant had been reduced from £1.9 million to £1 million and the District Council would, therefore, have to work under very severe restraints.

Angus council help to publicise itself as a tourist area by including leaflets in its exports of tins of beans and sacks of potatoes. The suggestion was made at a meeting in the Park Hotel, Montrose, by Conan Ritchie, Brechin, a member of the executive of the Angus Tourist Board.
