The computerised system introduced to Arbroath Library last year will be extended to cover all full-time libraries in Angus by the end of the summer.
The system was introduced after the extension and renovations to Arbroath Library were completed last year, and last week the system began operating at Forfar and Brechin.
Using a credit card-type ticket, the system should increase efficiency and service to readers and help alleviate staff shortages. Library members in Forfar and Brechin should call at their libraries to arrange to have their cards changed from the old system to the new.
The Angus Branch of Save the Children raised £24,662.72 last year.
This was more than double the previous year’s total and the chairman, Mrs carline Hippisley, said it had been a fantastic year.
Brechin Manager Ian Fleming has signed Gordon lees, a centre-forward, who has been scoring goals regularly for Lochee United.
He is on a provisional form and although he will be trained with City’s payers, will not be called up meantime. Mr Fleming said that the had been speaking to several players, but so far there were no signings.
