On July 2 in the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Fiona Lubbock (Mrs Geoffrey Lubbock) was presented with the gold Duke of Edinburgh award by the Duke himself.

Mrs Lubbock is the only American girl who has won the gold Duke of Edinburgh award. The Duke was surprised to meet her and asked how she won the award. She explained she had started the course in the U.K. and finished it in America, in Massachusetts.

Her parents-in-law took her to Edinburgh, along with her baby daughter Francesca, from Newton of Stracathro for the occasion.

In the last game of the season, the boys were unlucky to come home pointless. Forfar went 1-0 up.

Greig levelled the score when he shrugged off the challenge from two defenders to push the ball into the net.

He made it 2-1 when he outstripped the defence to put the ball into the net.

Half-time: Forfar Under-14s, 1; Brechin Boys Club, 2.

Forfar had the best of the second half and all the luck that was going, scoring two goals, with the trialist keeper being slow in going down for the first, and having no chance with the second.
