There were complaints at Angus Education Committee that school and working holidays in the country did not coincide. Mr A. McLellan, director of education, said the school holidays were the most suitable to give the best period of study for pupils sitting the Scottish Leaving Certificate exams. In his view it was impossible to resolve the question of public holidays involving schools and industry as they existed at present.

Officers and cadets of Tayforth Universities Officers Training Corps held a dinner in the Dundee headquarters to dine out their honorary colonel, the Earl of Dalhousie. He was accompanied by the Countess and new honorary colonel, the Earl of Strathmore and the Countess also attended.
