Brechin Rotary Club last Thursday honoured one of its founder members, Mr Lesslie Macduff, on the eve of his 80th birthday. A birthday cake had been baked and Mr Macduff’s health was toasted in champagne by Rotarian William Thom, president of the Club. Rotarian Ken Dron read a poem which he had composed in Mr Macduff’s honour.

Mr Alick Buchanan-Smith MP visited Stracathro Hospital where he had talks with Mr J. Murphy, medical superintendent, and Miss M. Shand, depute matron. He then visited a number of wards and was shown the improvements and alterations which had taken place since his last visit, particularly the modern catering facilities, the theatre complex and new lecture hall.
