At the annual meeting of the Brechin Local Centre of the British Red Cross Society, Mr David Will, honorary secretary, reported that this year’s collection was a record. The total remitted to county headquarters was £269 compared with £267 last year.
Rather sadly, this is the last year when, at “Civic Week” time, Brechin will have its own Provost, Magistrates and Councillors. The Church Parade on Sunday, June 2, will therefore have a historic significance. It is perhaps fitting that the Council will on this occasion have a professional “play-in” to the Inaugural Church Service by one of Scotland’s famous Military Bands, making it a rather special occasion and an appropriate “play-out” as well.
