Matrix Engineering, Ltd., has won at three-star safe working award from the Engineering Employers’ Association for equalling or beating their safety targets. The safety campaign was launched in 1971 in a bid to reduce the number of “reportable injuries” in the engineering industry.

Since its “face-lift” the library at Edzell is issuing 14,500 books a year compared with 2,000 before it was renovated.

Edzell, as last year’s winners in the ‘Britain in Bloom’ competition (village section), was featured in last week’s BBC TV colour programme ‘Breathing Space’. There was some fine shots of the entrance to the village, down by the river and of some of Edzell’s beautiful gardens.
