From the archives: 40 years’ ago

Severely hit by the raising of the school leaving age, engineering firms in Angus are now disturbed by the lack of interest on the part of school leavers and the too little encouragement given to them to participate in an engineering career.

The children from both Andover and Edzell schools have been busy collecting stamps and have given large envelopes of British and foreign stamps to the Save the Children Fund.

This year instead of an outing to the seaside the children of Farnell Sunday School, along with parents, teaches and elders enjoyed a garden party and picnic in the manse garden on Saturday, June 22. After a cloudy morning the weather became fine and warm. Races were run quite successfully on the lawn.
