Edzell’s Gala Queen was Miss Moira Duthie, Cairndrum, a clerkess with North Angus Co-operative Society, Ltd., at Brechin. She was chosen at the dance on Saturday evening. She was crowned by last year’s Gala Queen, Miss Wendy Young, Brechin.

Lodge St Andrew (No. 282), Tarfside, recently held their annual outing to St. Andrew’s Tower on Modlach Hill. The tower was built by the Masons many years ago because of the number of people who lost their lives on the hill. In those days the road was much steeper than now, instead of winding along the side of the Modlach, it then went over the hill and in winter many lost their way in the snow. The Masons built the tower to allow travellers to find a measure of shelter.
