The Scottish Development Department have refused to sanction borrowing for improvements proposed to be carried out to the City Hall (the cheapest scheme is estimated at £58,000), but the matter is not to be allowed to drop. The improvement would be a boon to those using the hall and make it a real asset to the community, it was pointed out.

Brechin Horticultural Society, after staging their own quality show, scored another very gratifying success at the weekend when they won the trophy in the inter-society competition at the Aberdeen Royal Horticultural Society’s 150th birthday show in the Duthie Park, Aberdeen. This was a truly Royal occasion, graced by the Queen Mother herself.
