From the archives: 40 years ago

Two pupils from the Esk Academy of Dancing, Montrose, have been chosen from 170 applicants to appear in ‘The Nutcracker’ which is being presented at His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen, From December 11 to 28. They are 11-year-old Lillian Thow, Balmanno, Marykirk, and nine-year-old Adam Horton from Brechin. Adam has only been dancing for six months.

The coffee morning held at Balbirnie Mill last Wednesday under the auspices of the Save the Children Fund proved very successful. It was a lovely sunny autumn morning and people drove out from Brechin, Montrose and Forfar to buy Christmas gifts and cards and also from the cake, candy and produce stalls. Altogether £142 was realised.
