At an informal meeting on Monday, Brechin Town Council decided that they would make every effort to ensure that the citizens of Brechin would have a Community Council ready to go to work after May, 1975, when the reorganisation of local government takes place.

On Friday, Bailie R. A. Mackenzie, convener of the Town Council Sewage Works Committee, officially opened Brechin’s new Sewage Works, extended and modernised over the past few years at a cost of £367,000. The plant is presently being “run in” and when in full operation should mean an end to one of the Council’s biggest headaches. There should be no more complaints about the pollution of the South Esk nor of an objectionable smell from the Works.
