From the archives: 40 years ago

The chief technical officer of the Scottish Special Housing Association is to see what he can do to speed up the building of 100 houses for the Association at Cookston, Brechin. Mr Alick Buchanan-Smith, MP, was given this assurance last Thursday by Mr L. W. F. Cross, the general manager of SSHA. 
Both Brechin Town Council and Matrix Engineering, who desperately need houses to attract workers, expressed their disappointment last week over the length of time till the first of the 100 houses would be available.

An end of the year dance held in the Masonic Hall, Tarfside, realised £48 for Glenesk Church funds.
