House to house calls with library books have been introduced in rural areas of Angus. They will replace the collections at about 80 schools, which, however, will still cater to pupils. The mobile service, operating from the library service’s headquarters at Montrose on a fortnightly or monthly rota, will provide a much wider selection of books. The van will carry a stock of about 1500 titles.

Angus District Council’s General Purpose Committee recommended that the Arbroath Town House should be used at the Sheriff Courthouse. The Chief Executive Mr. W. S. McCulloch said that previously the Sheriff Court in Arbroath had not dealt with criminal case but would do so including cases for the Montrose area. The Sheriff had inspected the Town House and had approved its use a courthouse.
