A public meeting was held in the Inglis Memorial Hall, Edzell, on Monday night - the Lesser Hall had a near-capacity audience of 70 - to discuss the question of a community council for the area. It was the general opinion that they should consider the formation of a community council for the northern part of the North Esk Ward, Edzell, Menmuir, Glenesk, Lethnot and Stracathro. A steering committee was set up with two representatives from each district to find out the view of the people throughout the area.

The Reverend W. G. Burns, past president of Brechin Rotary Club, and past district governor, spoke on the 70th anniversary of the founding of Rotary to fellow members of the Brechin Club on February 20. He said there were now over 53,000 members in Britain with 10.4 per cent of this membership in Scotland.
