On Thursday, the day before the schools closed for the Easter vacation, a very interesting ceremony took place at Brechin High School. Two panels on which are inscribed the names of the Rectors of the School - and before the Rectors, the Masters of the Grammar School - were unveiled in the School vestibule. There ceremony was performed by Mrs T. P. Douglas Murray, chairman of Angus Education Committee, and the panels were subsequently dedicated by The Rev. Peter M. Gordon, School chaplain. Special tribute was paid to Mr D. B. Thoms for his patient research in to the previous Rectors and Masters.

At Arbroath Musical Festival Mrs Alison Smith, Brechin, won the Eggo Cup for Vocal Solo - Premier Class - open to winners of any Senior Vocal Class at any Festival since 1965.
