By 21 votes to 19, after a recount, Angus County Council decided to support the Town and County Planning Committee’s refusal to grant planning permission to Brechin Town Council to change the use of land at Bearehill from agricultural to housing purposes.

On the advice of the head forester, Dalhousie Estates, the Sewage Works Committee is recommending to the Brechin Town Council that five acres of surplus ground at the Sewage Works be planted with young poplar and Norwegian spruce trees. The cost of the trees is estimated at £161 7s 6d, but it was pointed out that after five years, weeding of the ground would no longer have to be done and eventually the plantation can be cropped.
