From the archives: 50 years ago

Class IIE Of Bank Street Annexe, Brechin High School, raised money for their school effort by means of a quiz sheet on Scottish towns and villages. From some excellent entries to a difficult competition, the winner finally emerged after a recount as Barbara McIntosh, West Pittendreich, by Brechin, who had 15 out of 20 correct.

At the Spring Fayre and Sale of Work held at Salvation Army Citadel in Southesk Terrace on Saturday afternoon, well over £60 was raised. This was the first event of its kind held by the Brechin Corps for many years.

Brechin amateur operatic Society’s first effort for funds proved highly successful. The Committee raised £80 by hosting a coffee evening in the Mechanics Hall.
