The first US Navy chapel to be built and furnished on British soil has been dedicated at the US Naval base, Edzell. The chapel, centrally heated, with five offices, community room, library, kitchen and four classrooms, is the heart of community life at the base and is a striking example of cooperation with the people of the district. Once work started, gifts poured in. Pulpit, lectern, draperies, pews, piano, prayer book and Bibles were all presented to the chapel. The bell now installed in the chapel tower was presented by the Earl of Southesk.

The town council agreed to the Parks Committee’s recommendations that some money be spent on repairs and re-decoration at Argyle Street tennis courts.
