Edzell Station, which has been without a passenger service for some years, was to close down completely at the end of September, Bailie Buchan told the Town Council. At present, he pointed out, all office work for Edzell was done at Brechin. Railway users had been offered a cheaper rate of they loaded at Montrose. This could only mean one thing - in four years Brechin station would be closed for goods traffic because it was not being used; actually it would have been strangled. It was agreed to ask British Railways for official confirmation of the Edzell closure with a view to protesting.

The annual fete at Maison Dieu Church on Saturday realised £250. A tremendous amount of work must have been behind the afternoon.
