Brechin District Council has accepted, for the Inglis Memorial Hall, an oil painting of William Lindsay, the Edzell violinist, painted in 1889 by Allan Ramsay, Edzell. The painting was bequeathed by the late Mrs Brenda Murray-Draper, Burton-on-Trent, daughter of David Murray, gunsmith Brechin.

Over £6,000 has been shared among the four Church of Scotland charges in Brechin, following the realisation of the assets of the former congregation of St Ninian’s, it was reported to a meeting of the Presbytery of Angus and Mearns. The greater part of the money came from the sale of St Ninian’s Church (to the Roman Catholic Church) and manse. St Ninian’s congregation had stipulated that £500 was to go to the Foreign Mission Committee.
