The Town Council last Monday approved tenders amounting to £58,600 for the third stage of the re-development of Montrose Street. The scheme comprises 31 houses and one double shop. The total includes £4938 for various site works. The Provost hoped that once the department’s approval for the tenders had been received the work would go ahead quickly.

One of the aircraft apprentices training at the RAF’s No. 1 School of Technical training at Halton, who was chosen to take part in the Lord Mayor of London’s parade on Saturday, was J. A. Pilmer, of Market Street, Brechin, who is side drummer in the apprentices’ pipe band. He is training to be an instrument fitter.
