There will once again be carol singing round the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, and a cordial invitation is extended to all to join in. The procession, preceded by the Brechin City Band, will leave the Mechanics’ Hall at 9.45 p.m. and sing carols en-route to St Ninian’s Square where the programme is timed to last from 10 to 11 p.m.

The Cathedral Scouts Troop’s new Queen’s Scouts received their certificates from Mr. Ed Durie, district commissioner, at a ceremony in the Cathedral Hall on Friday. Thy were P.L.’s Sandy Hampton, Jamie Irvine and John McKenzie. The new Queen’s Scouts then handed over Thanks Badges to Mr John McKrechar, Mrs H. Tanner and Mrs John Aitken.
