Pictures presently on view in the small picture gallery created at Queen’s College, Dundee, include a portrait of the 13th Earl of Dalhousie, who performed the opening ceremony for University College, Dundee, in October 1883. The portrait, which has been lent by the Dundee City Art Gallery, is by James Archer.

Angus Conveners’ Committee are recommending that County Council Offices close on Saturday. Provost William Johnston, Montrose, said a census had shown there seemed to be little business for staff on Saturdays. The County Convener Mr R. W. L. McCaig said the present system of Saturday opening appeared to be working satisfactorily. Even if only a few people wanted to use what was a public service on Saturdays their requirements should be met.
