Golf: Mr Jim Webster, of the well-known Edzell golfing family, has been appointed professional to Edzell Golf Club. For the past 18 years he has been a machine tool fitter with the Coventry Gauge and Tool Company in Brechin but has always had a desire to become a professional golfer. He has twice won the Edzell Club’s open champions and also the Banchory open championship twice and formerly played in the county team.

Angling: Brechin were winners of an inter-club fly-fishing contest organised by Laurencekirk and District Angling Club on Loch Saugh, lent for the occasion by the Brechin Club. In unfavourable conditions Brechin grassed three fish, with an aggregate weight of 1lb 3 oz, with Laurencekirk in second.
