Football: Brechin City, 3; Clyde 2.
Their two midweek points against Clyde restored City to fourth place in the First Division table after a long stay on the fifth rung. They showed a gratifying return to form, with Ian Campbell ending his “goal-famine” with a brace of counters. Indeed through the greater part of the game, the homesters were at their brightest and it was not until the last quarter hour that they had to fight so hard to retain what had seemed a comfortable lead.

Cricket: Brechin’s Cricket professional this seas is Andy Wilson, skipper of the Onslow club which has just won the senior section of grade cricket in Wellington, New Zealand.
