Swimming: At the annual general meeting of Brechin Beavers Swimming Club Linda Mowatt, swimming convener, reported that the club’s achievements in the past year included 272 swimming and diving awards and reaching the final of the first division league event. Recent exam success meant they now have eight qualified teachers and eight qualified coaches.

Football: The playing side of Brechin Vics, founded in 1917, is to go into abeyance for a year to enable the committee and finances to be strengthened with the hope of returning to the junior league on a more secure footing next season. The decision to “blow the whistle” was made at an emergency committee meeting chaired by Councillor John Thomson.
