Rugby: Brechin high School FP’s Rugby Club, formed last season, is now playing competitive rugby thanks to assistance from the High School, Dalhousie Hotel, Bolag and Red Lion bars and friends in the town. Although they have yet to win any of their games, they have gained valuable experience in away matches against Carnoustie and Strathmore.

Football: Brechin FCs 3, CWS (Glasgow) 0.
Brechin started their ‘Mr Abie’ Scottish Cup campaign with a hard-fought victory over a physical Glasgow side. They took the lead in the 32nd minute when Ian Hill scored from the spot after Billy Lumsden was fouled in the box. Second half goals from Arthur Duff and Lumsden assured the victory.
