Golf: Fifteen year old Alistair Webster, Edzell, won the Angus Junior Championship at Elliot on Friday. Webster faced Allan Brown, Carnoustie, in the final and Brown was one up at the turn and two up after 12.
Webster then broke loose. He shot the next five holes in two under-fours to win them all and take the match at the 17th by three and one. He is probably the youngest player to ever win the country junior title.

Golf: On Saturday, Alistair Webster, with a round of 67 was a stroke behind Ian Sievewright, Arbroath, who won the Uig Villa Cup in Brechin open golf championship at Trinity. Dick Robertson, Brechin, won the handicap cup for the second successive year.
