Cricket: Brechin suffered their first defeat in the Strathmore Union this season at the hands of Perthshire XI. But the result was very close. With the last two Perth bats at the wicket only three balls remained and four runs were required for victory. Perth’s last man, Gow, gave them the points by hitting the required four.

Football: Brechin City 1, Inverness Caledonian 2.
Brechin City included three newcomers, Ian Mitchell, John Weir and Stewart Wilson, in their team for this friendly game at Glebe Park. It was Brechin’s only public trial game before the season starts. Caley proved lively opposition with Fyfe and McKinnon scoring their goals. Young was on target for Brechin.
