Football: Brechin City 2, Queen’s Park 1.
City began brightly but found the Amateurs too sharp for them in the first half. The players were slow in the tackle and teams were well into the second half before City’s tenacity paid off. Weir’s winning goal - his first of the season - was well deserved. He’s had many near misses.

Golf: Jim watt, Brechin, a member of Edzell Golf Club, playing off a handicap of three, has already set a good target for other competitors in the club’s winter eclectic competition. At the weekend at the 507-yard 18th hole, Jim holed out for an eagle three. The previous weekend he went even better with an albatross at the par-five ninth hole, which measures 478 yards.
