Cricket: Brechin, 71; Grove FP, 74.
The opening game at Guthrie Park on Saturday was quite an affair, resulting in a very narrow win for the visitors. Both sides showed start-of-the-season form with Grove more steady in the bowling. Unfortunately Stewart Wilson was an absentee and most of the Brechin bowlers were new to a first XI attack.

Football: Hamilton Accies, 3; Brechin City, 3.
At half-time City, three goals down, looked like having to concede both points to a rampant Hamilton who kept the visitors where they wanted them. But on the resumption they staged a great revival, chalked up the vital goals and left the stunned Accies with only one of the points.
