Equestrian: The Angus Horse-Breeding Society has wound up its activities. The last of the Clydesdale enthusiasts in the county met in Forfar to close its affairs. The annual foal show was abandoned four years ago. The organised hiring of stallions was still carried on, but females have become so few it has not been worth while continuing this service.

Football: Brechin City went down by four goals to one when they opened their 1964-5 League Cup programme against Stirling Albion at Glebe Park on Saturday. A heavy thunderstorm delayed the kick-off for an hour, and although the rain had stopped by four o’clock the ground was very heavy.
