Brechin proved one thing on Saturday: they can’t take 10 players away from home and bring back any points. Up to the interval they were just as good as the opposition and the blank score sheet was fair enough as both sides had missed sitters. However, when the home team scored a brilliant goal from a corner that put the fat in the fire end Brechin owe a lot to the stubbornness of ‘keeper Honeyman and co for keeping down the score.

Football: The Scottish Junior Cup fourth round tie between Matrix and Formartine United will take place at Glebe Park this Saturday. A large crowd is expected, as this is the first time Matrix have reached the fourth round.
