Football: Brechin City 1, Cowdenbeath 1. The visitors did most of the pressing in the opening stages, but the City defence held out and gradually tamed Menzies and Mathews. Brechin got their goal in the 49th minute, with Tocher scoring from the spot. An equaliser came in the closing minutes, with Guthrie scoring in a goalmouth scramble.
Hockey: Aberdeen 4, Brechin 0. A game Brechin will want to forget. Some very careless play let them down. Most of Brechin’s attacking was down the right wing where Graham Irvine excelled. In the first half especially he waltzed through the defence only to see his passes scorned by his colleagues. A couple of goals in each half kept Aberdeen on top for the whole game.
