Brechin Rotary Club’s president, Jim Houston, took the helm at the club’s meeting last week, outlining future plans.

With the activities over Christmas and New Year becoming a distant memory, the club gets back in the swing of things with several highlights in the near future.

During the course of the meeting, Jim announced that there will be another Race Night at the Parkview Bowling Club in aid of the Mary’s Meals charity, a club visit to ATMRC works in Dundee, a visit to the Burn at Edzell and the sponsoring of a competition at Parkview Bowling Club.

He also revealed that there would be club representations at both the ‘Easter in the City’ event and the Pageant in June.

It was also said that the club will be involved in another litter picking session, the holding of the local and area finals of the Primary School Quiz and he mentioned that the eagerly awaited Brechin Rotary Club recipe book is about to hit the bookstalls.

In terms of fund-raising events for the club, Jim said that fund-raising will continue with events such as a bag pack at the Co-op in aid of Rachel House and a bucket collection at Brechin City versus Rangers, with the collection going to the food bank.

The annual duck race was not mentioned, but a spokesman for the club said the idea has not been totally submerged.
