Members of Brechin and District and Inveresk Community councils have been urged by local police officers to be on the look out for people hare coursing.
Hare coursing is an illegal practice where hares are chased by dogs, such as greyhounds or other sight dogs. The hares are tracked by sight, not by smell.
The public were warned not to approach people found to be doing this, but to report any incidents to the police on 0300 111 2222. Although there have not been any reports yet, police anticipate incidents in the coming months.
