GUEST speaker at last week’s meeting of Brechin Rotary Club was Brechin High School rector Steve Dempsey.

In an enthusiastic presentation, Steve outlined some of the big changes in Scottish education, including Brechin High School over the last 40 years.

In particular, he stressed the recently implemented local changes that are giving more flexibility to meet the needs of the pupils, and also provide the skills for work.

With an obvious look to the future school rebuild, Steve delivered an optimistic view into the future by showing some remarkable transformations that had revolutionised other Scottish secondary schools.

Rotarian Willie Christison gave a vote of thanks for the presentation, commenting that things are just not the same since his days in front of the dominie.
