Hillwalking

MEMBERS of Friockheim and District Hill Walkers Club held a “summer” weekend in Tyndrum on July 14 and 15.

On the Saturday, thirteen members climbed Ben Challum and decent weather added to the pleasure of some excellent, panoramic views.

The group were, on Sunday, joined by the Simpsons, who agreed that, because of the inclement weather conditions, the planned ascent of two Munroes was no longer advisable and the group opted for the shorter walk up Hill of Achnafree, Glen Turret, a Corbett in the Crieff area.

This turned out to be a good choice as heavy showers remained the order of the day.

The next walk is Sunday, 19 August, tackling two Munros at Glencoe. Seats are available on bus, leaving Friockheim at 6 am. The walk open to non-members.

The pre-walk meeting will be held at the Star Inn, Friockheim on Thursday, August 16, and will involve a talk by Dave Orr on Caterans & Drovers.

Club members are reminded of the photographic competition at the September pre-walk meeting. Get your photos looked out.
