Brechin Inner Wheel Club is holding a fund-raising concert in the Mechanics’ Institute on Saturday, November 24, at 7 pm for 7.30pm with wine and nibbles included in the cost of £8.
Former Inner Wheel president Eileen Craig, now back living in Arbroath, is bringing a group comprising top local talent to provide a range of entertainment to suit all tastes.
Entitled ‘Cafe Musicale with Eileen and Friends’, the programme will feature Eileen herself and her equally well-known duet partner Maggie Findlay, who has just released a CD of much-loved songs.
Instrumentalists and vocalists will include Jill Kerr and sixth form pupils at Arbroath High School - John Kerr, Ruaridh Mathieson and Josh Wright - who will be providing songs from the shows, classical numbers and even some Beatles songs.
The boys have all performed successfully at the Arbroath( Competitive) Music Festival and last year Josh was the winner of the Blue Riband award, the highest award of the competition.
They are also members of the Boys’ National Youth Choir of Scotland.
Folk group ‘Spindrift’ - Jim Ramsay, Jim Robertson and Ian Ramsay - have been playing for around 40 years and although originally from Arbroath have appeared in such exotic locations as Friockheim, and Inverkeilor.
But, they are returning to the Cathedral City by request, having appeared at Brechin Bowling Club a year or so ago!
Making sure everything is kept in order and providing the piano accompaniment will be former Brechin High School music teacher Sheena Guthrie.
Tickets can be obtained by phoning Rita on Brechin 622324.
