Keen runners are being urged to jog on and help lead a healthy lifestyle thanks to a new group formed in Edzell.
Two running enthusiasts set up a Jog Scotland Group in October last year, with the help of a local GP.
Mhairi Armstrong and Donna McIntosh spoke to Dr Marc Jacobs from Edzell Health Centre about the idea last summer, and he was very supportive of the idea to form the jogging group to help promote a healthy lifestyle.
The group meets twice a week at Inglis Hall in Edzell. The first session takes place on Wednesday evenings at 6.30 p.m. and the second is held on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.
The group is aimed at beginners/intermediates, although all abilities are welcome to come along.
Mhairi explained: “We believe that exercise, fresh air and socialising play a crucial role in not only physical health, but mental health too.
“Some members come along to have a bit of fun and meet new people. Others want to lose weight. Some are striving towards a goal; perhaps a first 5k.”
Speaking about the driving force behind forming the group, Mhairi added: “We wanted to start a group and show people that they can run and more importantly, they can enjoy it.”
Jog Scotland was established in 2002 by Scottish Athletics, with support from the NHS Health Scotland, sportscotland and the Scottish Governments Healthy Living Campaign.
